Support Our mission
We believe every child deserves access to martial arts training—regardless of financial situation. We keep tuition low on purpose. We do not turn students away.
And when needed, we train students for free. Your support removes barriers between a child and growth.

Impact Stories

I first started martial arts with Master Dmitry and Oakland Martial Arts Academy. I was 16 and wanted to get more confident since I was starting to work and was meeting strangers all day which was not something I’d done before. I also wanted to stay ahead of my younger brothers as they were growing up and I was losing my size advantage when we would play fight at home.
I did get more confident and several of my siblings joined me at class for the next 3 years. We made friends with Leila and she joined our sibling group. Even though we trained hard and learned a lot about Tae Kwon Do, it always felt more like hanging out with our friends. Master Dmitry also taught us to appreciate art, history, and science, always bringing in something interesting like a pocket microscope or a page from an antique book.
When I moved to Fairmont he encouraged me to find a school and keep training in something even if it wasn’t Tae Kwon Do. I joined a Kenpo Jutsu school and drove back to Oakland whenever I could to keep up with my siblings in Tae Kwon Do. Covid 19 and college made a long break in my trips to Oakland but when my schedule let me I started again. Only 3 or 4 people that knew me were still at the school but everyone welcomed me and it felt like I’d never left. A lot has changed since I started ten years ago but it still feels like hanging out with my friends and learning interesting things. L.W.
